ESTABLISHMENT OF WILDLIFE BREEDING CENTRE AT BHARTHI AREA TEHSIL TAUNSA DISTRICT D.G. KHAN

The Barthi area is located almost 44-Km towards from Chokiwala stop and Indus High Way. Topography of area is dry mountainous tract including rain Nullah’s (Rood Kohi) upto
sub- mountainous and plain area having generally hot weather. The Barthi area is considered as best grazing site for domestic livestock and local peasants depend upon the said area for raising their livestock. Local flora of the area includes Jal, Lai, Kana, Jand, Dates etc. While local fauna includes Seesee partridge, Grey Partridge, Wild Hare, Wolf and other birds and mammals. Some migratory species like Houbara Bustard, Cranes, Sand Grouse, Quails and Falcons also visit the area during winter season. However, the beautiful ungulates i.e. Suleyman Markhor, Chiltan Goat and Urial (Gad) once used to exist in the area have shifted their home range to higher altitudes due to loss of habitat, livestock grazing pressure and poaching. Resultantly, a few number of wildlife species observed in the area. Barthi area have great potential to be developed as a Wildlife Breeding Centre for native Wildlife Species.

SCOPE OF PROJECT

The project will include the construction of Boundary Fence, Animal Enclosures, Under Ground Water Storage Tank, Raised R.C.C. Water Tank, Office cum Residences for Supervisor, Approach Road, Electric Supply Line, Water Supply Line and Staff Barrack etc.
