Protected Benefits

The protective functions imply such important features as impact on climate, and physiographic features of the country, conservation of soil and water, regulation of stream flow and prevention of such calamities as floods, lands slides, siltation of dams and change in the course of rivers. The role trees play in protecting the croplands and orchards against hot or cold winds is also now appreciated by the farmers. The forests contribute lot towards environmental stability, control of air pollution and beautification of the earth.  Forests are the natural habitat of all wildlife. Wildlife management is impossible without conversation of the environment for its protection and multiplication.

Productive Benefits

Wood has a significant role to play in meeting domestic energy requirements. According to a World Bank Survey, per capita domestic energy requirement in Pakistan equals to 0.4 meter cube of firewood. 50% (0.2 meter cube of its is met from wood,) similarly the timber consumption in Pakistan is around 0.028 meter cube per head per annum. 
The plantations are playing vital role in providing timber and firewood to the local public.

Minor  Benefits

  • Besides the above major benefits the plantation is also playing vital role in providing the minor benefits which includes:-Mulberry leaves for silk warm rearing. 
  • Sericulture as a cottage industry is well established inside as well as on the outskirts of the plantation. Its depends on mulberry leaves to feed the silkworms at their larval stage. One ounace of silk seed produces 40-45 thousands silk works which require one ton of leaves obtainable from 40 mature trees or 300 hybrid of mulberry plants. The bushy type of mulberry is being planted in the plantation area to promote the sericulture activities.  
  • Mulberry twigs to promote basket cottage industry.
  • Basket making is another cottage industry. It depends entirely on the availability of mulberry twigs. People residing in the neighboring villages are engaged in this trade. 
  • Medicinal plants  
  • The medicinal plants mainly served as a ground cover. These plants have a greater value in difference system of medicine. 
  • Honey  
  • Rearing of bees for honey is a very lucrative income generating industry, well suited to the way of life of the rural population and a very useful source of much needed additional income to the farmer. Honey bees collect nectar and pollen from about 500 wild and cultivated plan species including trees shrubs and herbs. 
  • Intangible benefits
  • Benefits which can not be measured i.e. oxygen, pleasure, health, humidity.
  • Employment generation
  • Plant collection for botany students.
  • Demonstrational points for extension purpose.
