These are avenues of trees planted along roadside, canalside and railside. Linear plantations over 47041.02 km are managed by the Forest Department. It consist of 10665.15, 2580.50 and 33795.37 km of road, rail and canal side plantations respectively. Tree species usually planted are shisham, kikar, Eucalyptus, Siris, sinmal etc. Some ornamentals such as jacaranda, cassia fistula (Amaltas ) Bauhinia (kachnar) etc are also planted. | |
