Trees are important because they create a peaceful, aesthetically pleasing environment for humans. They also provide timber for building construction, furniture and sporting equipment and play vital role in improving air quality and preserving soil. Contrary to the importance of trees the land under forests was previously utilized for the activities other than forestry practices. To stop this trend, Forest Act 1927 (Amended 2010) have been amended wherein Section 27 (2) and 34-A (2) has been included by virtue of which now onwards no forest land could be utilized other than forest activities.
